As a Commercial Manager Maritime Engineering, you are responsible for leading the commercial strategy and driving sustainable growth within a complex maritime engineering environment. Working alongside experienced engineers and industry professionals, you will play a central role in expanding the company’s market presence, strengthening client relationships, and translating technical expertise into commercial success across international maritime projects. This is a key leadership position within the management team, based in the Rotterdam area, where engineering, strategy, and commerce come together.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing and executing the commercial strategy and multi-year growth plan.
  • Leading marketing and sales engineering activities within the organization.
  • Identifying new business opportunities and expanding strategic client relationships.
  • Managing key accounts and building long-term partnerships in the maritime sector.
  • Leading complex proposal and tender processes, including contract negotiations.
  • Translating technical engineering capabilities into strong commercial propositions.
  • Structuring and optimizing sales processes, CRM systems, and forecasting methods.
  • Representing the company at industry events, conferences, and client meetings.
  • Aligning closely with engineering teams on feasibility, planning, and resource allocation.
  • Driving a predictable commercial pipeline and ensuring performance against KPIs.
  •  Visiting clients abroad is also part of this job (Europe).

What do you need

  • BSc or MSc degree in Maritime Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in maritime engineering or a technical project-based environment.
  • Relevant experience within B2B engineering or maritime services.
  • Experience managing commercial teams, projects or multidisciplinary environments.
  • Strong understanding of engineering processes, risk analysis, and contract structures.
  • Experience with complex proposals and tender processes.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and sales forecasting.
  • Strategic mindset combined with hands-on execution capability.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Dutch.
