As Functional Application Specialist 3DX (CAD PLM Structures), you will play a key role in developing, optimizing, and supporting structural engineering functionalities within the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) platform 3DExperience.
You will act as the functional link between structural engineering, IT, and software partners, translating engineering needs into robust, future-proof digital solutions. In this role, you will guide engineers toward more data-driven, collaborative, and automated ways of working.
Specific duties in this role include:
- Translating structural engineering requirements into functional specifications and innovative solutions in collaboration with stakeholders and the PLM Architect.
- Developing, maintaining, and improving structural engineering features within the 3DX PLM environment.
- Acting as a functional support point for CAD/PLM users, resolving issues related to ship structures and product data.
- Maintaining close relationships with software suppliers and implementation partners.
- Coordinating and executing testing of new functionalities and software migrations.
- Advising on and setting up product structures (EBOM/MBOM), parametric parts, and reusable libraries.
- Creating training materials and proactively exploring new digitalization and automation opportunities within engineering workflows

What do you need
- Bachelor’s degree in shipbuilding, mechanical engineering, or another relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience with 3DExperience or other associative 3D CAD systems such as Siemens NX, Tekla, PTC Creo, or SolidWorks, Cadmatic Hull is considered a plus.
- Strong understanding of structural engineering workflows and their integration within CAD/PLM environments.
- Experience with testing, validation, and implementation of new software functionalities.
- Programming skills (Python, VBA, Batch) for CAD automation are an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
