Cyber Security Engineer (maritime projects)

In this position, you will contribute to the secure design, implementation, and verification of cyber security measures for shipbuilding projects. You will collaborate closely with internal experts, external partners, and stakeholders to ensure compliance, performance, and future-proof security throughout the entire lifecycle of the ships and their training centres.
Specific duties in this role include:
- Contribute to the engineering process by preparing specifications, functional descriptions, schematic drawings, and security concepts.
- Participate in discussions with specialists in IT security, OT security, emission security, and physical security.
- Support the development and execution of test and verification plans for security measures.
- Participate in design checks and reviews to ensure compliance with Cybersecurity standards.
- Assess and verify the technical performance of vendors and subcontractors.
- Perform technical analyses of supplier offers in close cooperation with the Purchasing department.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant requirements and specifications imposed by Class societies and the customer.
- Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to secure their timely contributions.
- Contribute to the continuous development of the Electrical & Automation Engineering department.

What do you need
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Automation, IT Systems, Information Security Management, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience in the design or maintenance of complex IT or OT systems, ideally in ships, offshore, or industrial environments.
- Strong knowledge of networking and IT systems, including hardware infrastructure and system hardening.
- Broad expertise in networking architectures, layers and protocols, cybersecurity concepts, data encryption, and radiation safety.
- Familiarity with relevant cybersecurity standards and regulations, such as ISO 27001 and IEC 62443.
- Skilled in working with third-party vendors and subcontractors.
- Excellent communication skills in both German and English, written and verbal.
