Senior Structural Engineer – Shipbuilding & Offshore

Vacancy information
For a well-established shipbuilder in the Netherlands, we are looking for a Senior Structural Engineer with a background in Naval Architecture. In this role, you will be involved in a broad range of shipbuilding projects, covering work vessels, utility ships, and larger offshore and specialised vessels.
The position focuses on structural design, calculations, and FEM analyses throughout the design and build phases. You will operate in a technically demanding environment, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering and project teams to deliver robust and compliant structural solutions.
Key responsibilities:
- Performing structural calculations and design for ship and offshore vessel structures
- Setting up and executing FEM analyses (e.g. ANSYS or equivalent)
- Interpreting analysis results and translating them into practical design solutions
- Developing technically sound, manufacturable structural concepts
- Reviewing and validating engineering work from external or third-party teams
- Collaborating with naval architects, project engineers, and other disciplines
- Preparing clear, high-quality technical documentation compliant with client and class requirements

What do you need
- Bsc or MSc in Naval Architecture, Structural Engineering, or equivalent
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in shipbuilding or offshore structural engineering
- Strong knowledge of ship structures and structural calculations
- Extensive hands-on experience with FEM tools (ANSYS or similar)
- Structured, analytical, and quality-driven working style
- Able to work independently while contributing effectively to project teams
- Fluent in English
